The IT industry never stands still. New tools, platforms, and ideas arrive every week, and the fastest way to keep pace has never been a manual or a certificate — it’s people. The hallway conversation at a conference, the connection made at a local meetup, the question asked on a webinar: that’s where the real learning happens.
The trouble is that finding those events is far harder than it should be.
The gap we set out to close
Event information is scattered everywhere — vendor mailing lists, community channels, half-forgotten registration pages, a post you saw once on LinkedIn and can never find again. If you want to know what’s happening in your city or your corner of the industry next month, you have to go digging. Most people, understandably, just don’t have the time.
So great events go unnoticed, and the professionals who would have gained the most from them never hear about them at all. That felt like a problem worth solving.
What IT Events Americas is for
The idea is simple: one place to discover the IT events that matter across the Americas — conferences, summits, user groups, meetups, and webinars — without the endless searching.
- For attendees: a single, current view of what’s coming up, so you can plan your learning and networking instead of finding events by luck.
- For organizers and vendors: a way to reach the practitioners who actually want to be there, rather than shouting into an already-crowded inbox.
- For the community: a shared space that treats events as what they really are — the connective tissue of our industry.
It started with one call
David got the platform off the ground, but it was clear from the start that a resource built for the community couldn’t be built by one person alone. Soon after starting, he picked up the phone and called Maria — and she leapt at the chance to get involved.
Maria brings a community-first philosophy that sits at the core of everything we do. In her words: “Community is at the heart of how I approach everything in this industry. By working together, we build a stronger, more resilient IT industry — by getting out there, getting involved with our peers, and networking. Through those relationships, we spark ideas that grow us professionally, grow our businesses, and grow our whole industry.”
That belief — that the industry gets better when we come together — is the reason IT Events Americas exists.
Why it matters to us
The moments that shaped our careers most weren’t the ones we planned for. They were the conversations we almost missed — the talk nearly skipped, the person we happened to sit next to, the meetup a colleague dragged us along to. Every one of them started with simply knowing the event existed.
IT Events Americas exists to make that first step effortless, so more of those moments happen for more people.
Where we’re headed
These are early days, and we’re building it in the open. This is a passion project, and it only works if the community gets behind it — we need event organizers to share what they’re running, attendees to show up and explore, and, most of all, your feedback on what you need from a resource built by industry members, for the industry.
If you organize events, run a user group, or simply know about something worth sharing, we’d love to hear from you. And if you’re here to find your next great event — welcome. That’s exactly why we built this.
We look forward to seeing you at an event very soon.
